West Point, St. Andrews
West Point in St. Andrews is, understandably, at the west end of town. It is a small promontory featuring a blockhouse to defend against the Americans during the War of 1812. The topography was excellent for experiencing tidal extremes. The first tide picture was taken at high tide, the remainder at low tide. About a kilometer out one could walk on the ocean bottom. It was strange being there and imagining the surface of the ocean being 24 feet above.
